Earlier this evening my sister Goldfields Girl and I dropped into the opening night of The Lip Lab in Ballarat. The Lip Lab is a magical place where you can custom build your own lipstick. I'm not someone who's very into lipstick, but if there's one thing I've learned from this evening, my interest is clearly based on how much control I have over the creation process. You want nude? Bam! A warmed tone of nude? Bam! Matte or gloss? BAM! Cinnamon flavour? BOOM. That is literally the process for how my own personalised lipstick came together.
If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen me all excited about this launch with the above Instagram post after I got an invitation to attend.
Damn these little animations I put into my blog posts. When I'm trying to write words right next to them, they make me feel queasy. Hopefully they don't have the same effect on you when reading the post! Anyhoo, I've now discovered I'm completely into lipstick and I'm looking forward to getting in to make myself another. Here's my finished product below.
The process begins with a bunch of different colours. Did you know there's blue in a nude lipstick? I had no idea! It was fascinating. I promise to get back there again and give you a more detailed breakdown of the process when there's less excited people around for me to get distracted by. There is a spinning wheel of all the shades and flavours and the technician spun it around picking all the different colours she needed to make my shade.

This is Goldfields Girl's shade being put together. She went for a bright pink to pop against her jacket. They have all sorts of metallics too. I think if you're going to be doing outfits for racing or if you're preparing for a special event like a wedding, The Lip Lab would be a magnificently easy way of matching your lipstick to what you will be wearing. Forget trawling through a store to find the right shade, and then the right shade in a matte or gloss. With this process it's everything you want in one transaction and it's fun as well.
Here's my squad, all hanging out being wickedly awesome. Wish I could have stayed for longer. I hope the rest of the evening was fantastic!
Thanks for the invite! I hope the rest of the launch went well! xo
