Of Carols and Candles

20 Dec 2010

Christmas.

What a heavy word.

It carries a ridiculous amount of meaning which is incredibly different from person to person. It's an event that can have religious significance to some. It disgusts others who can't stand its commercialisation. It unites complete strangers. It stops entire workforces in their tracks and shuts down industries. All of these are the result of the meaning that people put on Christmas themselves.

In case you weren't aware, I have another blog.

Yep.

So just when you thought all I cared about was clothes and shoes, now you know I've been hiding my love of food (and wine) and cookbooks from you. This secret blog hasn't got a lot of love over the last couple of months because juggling one blog and a heap of assignments is tough enough, let alone 2 blogs. What is this secret blog you say?

Finding Femme - In the Kitchen. www.findingfemmefood.blogspot.com

And here you were thinking I couldn't cook, right? I'm joking :) I'm not very good in the kitchen but I'm working on it. If you're on your L or P plates in the kitchen why don't you pop on over? In about a months time I'm going to start cooking some of the recipes in the cook books I seem to have started collecting. When I cook I'll be blogging about my failures and successes and would love to share the journey with you

In celebration of my other blog, I've posted to here as well as there. The post is all about a yummy pizza I had tonight.

A new wood fired pizza house has opened up not far from my house. I loved the atmosphere of the place, the menu was tasty and what we ended up ordering was quite possible one of the best pizzas I've ever eaten.

Fortunately for me (and you) I happened to have my camera on me. These are some snaps that I took whilst awaiting our pizza.

My Sister Pat

18 Nov 2010

Last year sometime my gorgeous Aunt organised a vintage fashion parade. She'd part of the Red Cross Trendsetters group as well as the local Fashions in Time group as well. You may recall my previous post about the Hats Through the Decades parade that she assisted in organising. The parade last year was vintage clothes from the 1950's or earlier. I assisted with the parade collection with a couple of my favourite dresses. After the parade I approached the model who had worn my dresses to chat and found out that she has started up a company selling swimmers.

Hats Through The Decades

31 Oct 2010

Today is a very exciting day. I should have told you earlier.

I was asked to be compere for a fashion parade of vintage hats which is a fundraiser for the Red Cross. I said yes (of course) and now I'm in my room looking in my wardrobe at my copious amounts of dresses saying 'What do I wear?'

The Vintage China Company

5 Oct 2010

Spring is back! Daylight savings has never seemed more beautiful. The sunshine seems to last and last and last. I spent my weekend avoiding everything to do with football (because once was more than enough) and enjoying fresh air, places of interest, good food and great company.

Handkerchief heaven

19 Aug 2010

So when I was in Clunes (at the same place I was looking at that lovely chair) they had gorgeous handkerchiefs.

A chair in Clunes

9 Aug 2010

Isn't she beautiful. This chair is apparently from the turn of the 18th - 19th centuries. It was one of two brought over directly from France. I fell in love with it and wanted to buy it. It was $750.

Pickle (and a new book)

31 Jul 2010

Today I got a new book in the mail. Pickles (above) and I investigated it. She is a strange dog. Look at her, planting her precious little bum on my toile cushion. As if sitting normally is for the poor dogs.

Chitra's Closet

6 Jun 2010

It's 2:15am Saturday and I've just gotten home. I'm elated but tired and soooo ready for bed but I feel I need to write this out (even if just in draft to post another time) the events of tonight.

Last week I was invited to an event for Chitra's Closet in Brunswick. I was delighted to be sent the invitation and accepted with the intention of taking along my sister. She bailed out at the last minute today and I called in my friend Claire to fill her spot. We got dressed and loaded into the car as soon as I finished work and started the long drive into Melbourne-town.

Time for an adveture (Part 2)

14 May 2010

So after you've been out for a wonderful lunch, what else would be more fun than indulging in some vintage and fabulous shopping. I took Juliebirdie to Blonde Vintage.
